2008 prayers were held in a backdrop of the greatest crisis our nation has known. The nation was seriously divided along ethnic lines during the disputed presidential elections and unfortunately, the church was so wounded and torn apart as she had taken sides in the elections. As a result, it was difficult for the church leadership to come together and lead united prayers. But the problem led to a blessing.
Prayer Alters multiplied
Nairobi has always had one stadium event. But because of our crisis, God gave us wisdom to raise 5 different venues in Nairobi so that there would be 5 fires of repentance and prayer alters lit up in the areas most affected by the violence. We had Kibera slums hosting one while others were held in the Mathare-Huruma and Kawangware slums, one in the more affluent Langata area and the last in Kiserian in the outskirts of Nairobi.
This enabled us to pray without strife and competition. We coordinated another 18 other venues across the country while World vision mobilized prayers in all their Area Development Programs (ADPs) which are about 50. In total there were about 74 fires of prayer. We give God the glory for all these.
Showers of Blessings
The Eldoret prayers were reported to be so sweet and the Lord graced it with a downpour immediately the prayers ended, yet the area had been dry prior to the day. Bungoma unfortunately suffered a rain storm and even some injury was reported. We have included the Bungoma and Naivasha testimonies are recorded below:
Work continues..
We have embarked in our 90 days of blessing on a process of continuous engagement of working with the church leadership on unity and healing. So far we have had reconciliation and healing prayer rally in Kakamega which was attended by leaders from other provinces and it even drew participants from Uganda, Tanzania, Congo and Burundi. There are others planned for Eldoret, Gaissa (Islamic North Eastern province), Mwala and Kisumu among others. We are also currently working with women leaders in the church, Government and professions to bring the nation's leadership together so they can eat together, pray together and break bread together. A luncheon is planned for June 14th. We have also started serious meetings with Call2All/ Global Pastors Network and we hope the EA congress earlier slated for Uganda will come to Nairobi and help heal the church in this hour of need.
Pray for us as we embark on these initiatives.
REPORT FROM NAIVASHA KENYA reported by Benson Nyang'or
Benson Nyang'or led a group of 7 to pray with internally displaced people (internal refugees) in Naivasha. This camp hosts approximately 4000 people, mainly from the Kikuyu tribe who were displaced from their homes after the disputed election results.
We joined an interdenominational prayer service in held in a Unicef service tent with approximately 200-300 worshipers and hundreds of children. The children sang, danced, praised and recited prayer poems in spite of their difficult circumstances. Then we embarked on prayers, testimonies, prophetic declarations and the Lord led us repent and to pray to reconcile the people to the land that had vomited out its inhabitants.
Result: In the end, the spirit of heaviness and fear was broken and the community elders declared they are now ready to go back to their land as God has given them assurance from His word. There was such joy, celebration with dance and great jubilation that we had a hard time stopping the meeting to return to Nairobi.
After the prayers, we were requested by a Mkorino pastor (a turbaned traditional African church) to visit his tent and pray for the healing of his daughter who had a hole in the heart. We prayed and we trust God has healed her, and we await a surgeon's report by end of month. The IDPs asked that we leave our phones open as they want to pray with us during their exodus from the camp. To God be all glory.
REPORT FROM BUNGOMA reported by Rev Patrick Siabuta
Kingdom of darkness ruffled, Saints need to re-consecrate for GDOP prayers.
The prayer day and planning were successful and attendance was good. But we were hit by a rainstorm while we were concluding the meeting. It came faster than we expected. It cut short the person who was making the last prayer. I thought this was an attack. It happened within 5-10 minutes, but the damage was big.
The rain came abruptly with a very strong wind. I shouted to people to run for their lives. I shouted to those in the tent to run to the church. Before any action, the tent was in the air, box speakers were rolling in the field. The pulpit was scattered as though they were not steel bars and timber. Plastic chairs went into the air. I saw one of the pastors who is disabled being crumpled on the ground. Flying tent went and covered some children and women who were running for their lives. Some jumped into their car and drove as if escaping from death. A few of us wrestled in the tough rain with the hope of rescuing those pressed on the ground. One church elder was cut on the head deeply and was rushed to the district hospital. Some plastic chairs were broken as they were hit on the trees. Tent and pulpit iron bars wee broken and 6 box speakers were damaged. All these happened within 5-10 minutes and it was over. Please see the attached photos.

Mombassa
We had a very successful day of prayer in Mombasa, Kenya for which we give the glory to our Father in heaven.
We started at 3pm and prayed right through to 6pm. It was a breathtaking experience.
Here in Mombasa we are in the rainy season and there was quite some concern that the weather would foul the meeting. There were even suggestions that we source for tents in case it rains. We gathered in an open soccer stadium in the city. I remember arriving at the stadium and immediately it began to rain. It was scary somehow, but I told the Father since we had not come to watch soccer, but that we had come to meet with Him, how could we be rained on? He answered immediately and the clouds were blown away!
The prayer time was powerful. God answered prayer with healing some brethren.
We look forward to several activities lined up for the 90 days of community blessing. On June 7th we have a city clean up. We are excited as to what the Lord will do in response to the world crying out to Him on Pentecost Sunday.
