The week of GDOP was a very difficult time for Lebanon that started with fighting between Hezbollah and the Sunnis or better said between the Shiite opposition and the government resulting in the death of several people, and the closing of the airport.
In the midst of all these fighting and while listening to the news that things were escalating, receiving friends who lived in targeted areas over and the preparation of the Global day of prayer, you can imagine the stress.
That Sunday 11th of May, we received many phone calls from friends warning us about the danger of keeping the program as scheduled i.e. Gather in a public open space and pray. Some were apologizing for not coming and others were too afraid to join. But we believed that this was a crucial time to pray. If we wanted a breakthrough, what else could we do?

When we started the gathering there were very few people present and it was understandable but to our surprise, slowly and surely the whole space was quickly filled overflow.

The time was exceptional and as we proclaimed II chronicles 7: 14 “if my people who are called by my name would repent from their evil ways, humble themselves, and seek my face, I will hear their prayers and heal their land”. A spirit of repentance came over every person attending, over all the priests and pastors and even on our TV audience.

The Lebanese Christian channel Tele lumiere and Noursat decided just at the last minute that they would broadcast the event live all over the earth and truly we heard testimonies of people kneeling with us in their homes and joining us in prayer for the Spirit of the Lord to inhabit Lebanon.
We decided to take the time to ask for the Spirit of the Lord in all the areas of society. We asked Him to come into our church, our government, our justice system, our youth, our media, our arts, and mainly to bring unity in the Christian community.
We also repented for our racism and had some Ethiopian sisters who praised the Lord with us
Then we proclaimed the promises of God for Lebanon for the Lord promised that “in a very short time Lebanon will become again a fertile field and then the lame shall walk, the blind shall see and the deaf shall hear the good news.”
As a result of our time repenting before the Lord, the fighting stopped the second day; the airport reopened the third day and peace
Negotiations started again. Hallelujah!
Keep praying for Lebanon for the fight is not over! We have a long way to go but we trust in a mighty God

We hope to see all of you soon
Blessings from the land that is waiting for an outpouring of the Lord.

A few weeks later Nuna sent the following e-mail:
Lebanon was literally transformed after that day as we had been without a president for the last 6 months and then out of nowhere in the week following the GDOP the different parties all signed an agreement and elected a president and the atmosphere in Lebanon changed from tension, civil war...to an atmosphere of hope. I believe this all came as a direct result of our time of repentance and prayer. |
