We opened up our prayer room from 9 am till 9 pm on Sunday for the GDOP.
Having notified many of the pastors/leaders from the various small fellowships on the island (6 copies of the GDOP info DVDs you sent were in circulation), we weren't sure how many people had heard and would join us in the prayer room. Several pastors responded that they would set aside a time of prayer during their regular Sunday service to Join in with the rest of us, so that was encouraging. There were worship teams from 3 different churches who came to do worship sets, as well as a youth outreach team who is here from the UK, Canada. Other slots were filled in with various musicians who happened to be there praying, or with CDs, so there was continuous worship/prayer happening for the entire 12 hours.
All told, somewhere between 40 and 50 people joined us physically during the day, from house fellowships, Baptist, Pentecostal/charismatic, non-denominational/evangelical, and Catholic churches.
Throughout the day, the Holy Spirit seemed to take those of us gathered on a small journey through praise, worship, repentance, and crying out on behalf of the church here for restoration, healing, signs & wonders, and Him to show His face. There were powerful times of prayer for families, the government, justice, the lost in general, Muslims, and our neighbors in Italy.
6 Children and 2 infants came at different times, and spent time making art projects. One 9-year old girl from a Jesus-loving Catholic family made a picture titled "Pentecost", with flames of fire on the heads of 5 different people.
Another woman who had just come from a special service at her church shared what God was confirming to her. In the service, a foreign man who had been one of the first "missionaries" to Malta (in the 1960's) shared some of the seeds God had planted back then. Through discussion, it was discovered that many of the fruit-bearing branches on this island now, were a direct result of his small obedience at the time. When this woman came to the prayer room immediately following her church meeting, she walked in to hear a woman praying aloud about obeying in the small things, trusting that the Lord sees the bigger picture, and will multiply and increase what we offer.
Though our event in Malta was small in comparison to some, I feel that, like our tiny little island (which isn't even visible on many world maps), the destiny and purpose for this gathering was/is much bigger than we know. It is clear to us that the small, seemingly insignificant things are crucial pieces of God's plan for revelation of Himself.
We are thrilled to be a part of His family at this time, and feel that the return of our beloved King is very very close. It seems He is revealing His glory more each day... What a privilege we have to be the ones close to Him!
